Penance Service, tomorrow night (12/18), 7:30, SAA Church. There will be several priests to hear Confessions.
Reconciliation with God and the Church is one of the greatest birthday gifts you can give to Jesus.

How frequently are Catholics required/expected to go to Confession?
once a year

"Any time you are aware of having committed a mortal sin."
So if you don't commit a mortal sin then you don't have to go to confession for the rest of your life! YES!!

Sitting here thinking of any mortal sin. Nope, nothing comes to mind. Whew what a relief!
Even if we haven't committed any mortal sins, Confession is a great opportunity for Grace. There is real sanctifying grace that we receive which helps us to grow in our relationship with Christ and one another. We can't get this kind of Grace on our own.
Also, regular Confession helps us to see and understand sin better, and to move away from it. As a woman said after going to Confession for the first time in a LONG time the other day, "I see things so much more clearly now and am much more aware of what I do".
The Grace of Confession brings real freedom (among other things)!
Can anyone tell me if John Neumann is having a parish penance tomorrow or if they already did? I missed mine at my parish as I was teaching CCD.
I guess not. Well I will go face to face with Jesus himself. Works for me.
