Pray for President Obama
Today our nation celebrates the inauguration of a new president which is always a historic occasion. It is an especially extraordinary day in the history of our country because Barack Obama becomes the first black president of the United States. We wish President Obama well. Each of us should pray for him every day. We should pray for his health and safety, that he will open to the grace, wisdom and knowledge of God, that he will be a man of virtue in his actions, that he will be led by the Spirit of Truth and not the spirit of the world, and that his heart and mind will be changed on the issues of life. We pray that he will be a leader for the culture of life and not the culture of death.

This Ad is awesome! What a way to fight abortion. This truly had to be inspired by God.
An ironic point was made in The Washington Post’s "On Faith" section. While many have rightly taken note of the enormous shift in racial equality with the inauguration of the nation’s first person of color to its highest office, Obama’s presidency doesn’t bode well for the African-American community in over 13 million ways. It was noted that over 13 million African-American children have been aborted, and abortion heavily targets that community. So, while yesterday was one step forward for a race of people, we need to guard against it also being two giant leaps backward.
I havn't seen anything about thi in the bulletin but it was mentioned after one Mass. The request wa made for covered dishes for the groups coming for the March. When and where should they be dropped?
Anon, 4:27: we are good on meals for our visitors this week. Thanks!
"And I want every child to have the same chances to learn and dream and grow and thrive that you girls have."
~ Mr. Obama, in a letter to his daughters in Sunday's Parade magazine
"..the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness."
~ A passage from yesterday's Inaugural address
I am hoping that letters to President Obama, gently using his own words, will persuade him to change his perspective on FOCA.
It stood out to me that, in her sermon yesterday at the prayer service, Rev. Sharon Wright said, , "With your swearing-in, Mr. President, the flame of America's promise burns just a little brighter for every child in this land."
M prayes and thoughts are with all the Marchers that their actions will, in effect, begin to make that a true statement.
